USCarrier, BalsamWest Expand Network Reach
03/01/2007
USCarrier Telecom and BalsamWest FiberNET LLC have partnered, tying together USCarrier’s 3,400 route-mile high-capacity fiber-optic network with BalsamWest’s 300-mile tri-state fiber-optic backbone. The partnership, which was completed in January, provides longhaul transport between Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities throughout the Southeast with previously hard-to-reach areas between eastern Tennessee, northern Georgia and western North Carolina. Both companies currently provide Ethernet, optical and IP services to their customers. They said the partnership will allow each company to expand these services across both networks. “Not only will this partnership expand the reach of the USCarrier network, it will also expand the footprint of the DDR Broadband partners, which include USCarrier, PalmettoNet and Access On and Valley Net,” said Jack Roberts, vice president of sales for USCarrier. “This partnership with BalsamWest is a critical component in achieving our goal to offer route-diverse, SONET-protected, carrier-grade service to under-served areas.” BalsamWest FiberNET LLC www.balsamwest.org USCarrier Telecom www.uscarrier.com
