Energie Taps Atrica for Carrier Ethernet

Atrica Inc. has added Energie AG Oberoesterreich to its long list of customers, which now tallies about 30.

The Austrian company, which supplies energy, water and disposal to customers throughout Austria, the Czech Republic, southern Germany, Hungary and Slovakia, is leveraging the fiber it installed to support its primary businesses to also sell telecom services. Energie AG will use the new Atrica-powered Layer 2 network to offer customized, high-speed business communications, wholesale, backhaul, aggregation and triple-play services throughout its service region.

“At Energie AG, our goal is to – through our innovative products and services – enable our customers to have a better quality of life, with more security and more success,” said Dr. Manfred Litzlbauer, vice president of corporate networks at Energie AG. “This new carrier Ethernet transport infrastructure will allow us to reach that goal by delivering ground-breaking services that meet the growing demand for carrier-class communications throughout Upper Austria. The infrastructure’s easy manageability, combined with the significant reductions it allowed in our capex and opex, presented the ideal opportunity for us to migrate to a carrier Ethernet platform.”

Atrica’s director of marketing Umesh Kukreja said that Energie has been offering Ethernet service for some time, but the company’s existing platform didn’t scale to support mission-critical SLAs, so Energie turned to Atrica.

The Atrica gear – which was supplied to Energie via Austrian professional services firm DATENTECHNIK – delivers high QoS, guaranteed end-to-end SLAs, sub-50ms resiliency, and carrier-class service management and provisioning. Energie is now deploying Atrica’s A-4100 Carrier Ethernet Aggregation Switch, A-2100 Carrier Ethernet Edge Switch and the A-100 Carrier Ethernet Demarcation device as well as the Atrica Service Platform for Ethernet Networks, an integrated service provisioning and management system.
