Ellacoya Unveils New Packet Product

Ellacoya Networks Inc., a provider of carrier-grade broadband service optimization products, on Thursday introduced its new platform, the Ellacoya e100.

The Ellacoya e100 provides deep packet inspection (DPI) technology for service providers and can sustain line-rate DPI functionality at 20gbps speeds and support up to 500,000 active subscribers.

The product will be commercially available in March, Ellacoya said.

The Ellacoya e100 is a carrier-class and carrier-scale network platform that enables providers to identify and manage each packet of network traffic by subscriber, service type, time of day and more. It can provide reports on network usage, manage traffic, ensure VoIP quality, identity and prevent network threats, and provide the basis for quota management, differentiated service plans and services such as IPTV, VoIP and streaming video.

The platform also supports new hybrid architectures that combine streaming and peer-to-peer architectures, the company said.
