ADVA’s 100G Efforts

ADVA Optical Networking told xchange at NXTcomm that it’s at the forefront of 100G research.

The company said its work on the 100G front includes heading a group of university and enterprise partners abroad as part of the 100GET initiative sponsored by government agencies in Finland, France, Germany and Sweden.

The primary goal of the project is to develop a 100G muxponder prototype for the metro area. Further plans call for ADVA’s systems to enable a 100G demonstrator at Berlin’s Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute, as well as in the OCTET (Open Environment for Advanced Carrier Ethernet Technologies) field testbed from Deutsche Telekom.
