Cisco Systems Inc. (www.cisco.com) is acquiring broadband subscriber management software company CAIS Software Solutions (www.caissoft.com) for $170 million in cash and stock. CAIS software applications enable service providers to more easily provision and manage high-speed, broadband Internet services in hotels, apartments, airports and office buildings.

Interactive Intelligence Inc. (www.inter-intelli.com), a developer of multichannel customer interaction management software and Astute Inc. (www.astutesolutions.com), an e-customer relationship management (eCRM) solution provider, have signed an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement that allows Astute to embed portions of the Customer Interaction Center by Interactive Intelligence into its PowerCenter eCRM solution to improve the responsiveness and productivity of customer contact centers. The agreement creates a single, integrated solution to manage, track and report on customer contacts received by phone, fax or e-mail.

CoManage Corp. (www.comanage.net), which sells service management systems for network service providers, has secured a $36 million round of venture financing, which it claims is among the largest ever in the telecommunications OSS space. Highland Capital Partners (www.hcp.com) and The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (www.gs.com), led this third round of funding, which also included current investors Adams Capital Management (www.acm.com), Bessemer Venture Partners (www.bessemervp.com), Birchmere Investments Inc. (www.birchmere.net), Columbia Capital (www.colcap.com), Lucent Venture Partners Inc. (www.lucentventurepartners.com), and Patricof & Company Ventures (www.patricof.com). The financing will be used to accelerate development and sales of CoManage's Integrated Service Manager for service providers delivering next-generation broadband services such as DSL, VoDSL, IP, ATM and VPNs.

Cogent Communications Inc. (www.cogent.net) signed a contract with Crescent Real Estate Equities Co. (www.cei-crescent.com). The contract enables Cogent to install fiber optics facilities and sell its 100mbps Internet access service to tenants in Crescent's Class A office buildings.

360networks Inc. (www.360.net) anticipates significant increases in cash-based revenues and adjusted EBITDA for the year ending Dec. 31, 2001. 360networks forecasts cash revenue of $3.1 billion to $3.3 billion, and adjusted EBITDA of $2.5 billion to $2.6 billion for 2001. These figures are approximately 40 percent to 50 percent higher than prior estimates of analysts.

Tachion Networks Inc. (www.tachion.com) closed its third round of funding for $50 million, bringing its total capital raised to date to $84 million. With this third round of funding, Tachion is well capitalized to continue both the expansion in the breadth and the depth of the FUSION 5000 Broadband Services Switch, its next-generation convergence system for service provider Central Offices, and the expansion of production capacity for the expected rapid growth of the company in 2001.

Time Warner Telecom Inc. (www.twtelecom.com) won the competitive bid to provide local telephone services to the Defense Metropolitan Area Transport Service--Dayton and Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. The contract includes service for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Kettering, Ohio.

telcobuy.com (www.telcobuy.com) elected to withdraw its S-1 registration statement filed with the SEC due to unfavorable market conditions. The company plans to return to the capital markets when the market stabilizes.
